We have another World Golf Championship tournament this week which means all the best players in the world will be competing. 65 players from all across the world will battle it out for this prized Championship. We will look to go 2 for 2 on WGC events this season after correctly selecting Matt Kuchar at 35 to 1 just two weeks ago. It should be an excellent 4 days of golf and I look forward to some of the groups over the first two days (Tiger, Rory and Luke).
A 7266 yard Par 72 course will be the host this week, and it is nicknamed The Blue Monster for a reason. The 11 water hazards will suck up plenty of balls this week, due to difficult tee shots and well placed pins. While players are worrying about the ‘blue’ on the course, they might find a little too much beach. Dick Wilson is the original designer and Raymond Floyd was the man who restored the course in 1986. They both did an excellent job of placing bunkers in common shot areas. There are 110 bunkers across the course forcing players to be accurate with their drives and irons
Hole 4 is easily one of the most difficult Par 3’s in the world. At 236 yards in length and water on the right, many players are forced to aim well left. The problem with doing that is there are two very deep green side bunkers. If any wind picks up this hole will give the players fits.
The 18th on the famous Blue Monster could be where the tournament is won or lost. Last year the 467 yard Par 4 played as the most difficult hole on the course. With water protecting the left side of green, players tend to bail out to the right. The green offers plenty of undulation and difficult breaks, forcing many difficult two putts.
STEVE’S SIX PACK SYSTEM PICKS
Here are this week’s six-pack of golfers I like to win the tournament outright. **Odds are based on 5dimes.eu**. I will be (and recommend) placing 1% of my golf bankroll on each golfer to win the tournament outright.
One interesting aspect this week is that there is no cut. All 65 players competing will play on Sunday, and this can change some player’s strategy for the week. We will be going with players who possess 3 attributes (Past success here, Total Driving and Greens in Regulation). A key this weekend, as conditions should be excellent, will be keeping the ball in the fairway.

FRANCESCO MOLINARI 135 TO 1 – I am sure many people will question this selection when they see it but Molinari is a must selected at Doral. This week will be Molinari’s 4th start at The Blue Monster and he has yet to finish outside the Top 14. Molinari’s best finish here came in 2011 when he finished T3. Francesco’s reasons for playing so well at this course have to be his accuracy and putting. In 2012 Francesco ranked 1st in Driving Accuracy, Strokes Gained through Putting, and Scrambling from the Rough on the PGA Tour. This season has not started the way Molinari would have liked, but returning to a place he loves will help. This week watch for Molinari’s ability to get up and down if a green is missed, but also the way that he avoids trouble. Bogeys are lurking around every corner at Doral and of course there is also the ability to make the dreaded “Other” this week (ie. Sergio Garcia’s 12 last year in his 4th round on number 3). Enjoy watching Francesco make plenty of putts this week, vaulting himself in contention yet again at this great tournament.
