I would like to welcome everyone to the 2013 Wyndham Championship.
Last week Jason Dufner put on a ball striking display for the ages. He made a statement on the Friday shooting a course record 63 and then out dueled Jim Furyk on Sunday to pick up the win. The cool demeanor of Dufner was a big reason why he was able to hang on for his first Major Championship victory. That win gave us victors in three out of four majors this season, an incredible statistic I am very proud of. It also helped improve our season profits to over 66 units (outright + head to head). We are well on our way to our 8th straight winning season and look great heading into the upcoming Fed Ex Cup playoffs.
This week the Touring Professionals will be tee it up in gorgeous North Carolina at Sedgefield Country Club. Tensions will be high as this is the player’s final tune up prior to the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs. The first leg of the playoffs allows the Top 125 players in the Fed Ex Cup Rankings to compete in the tournament. Look for plenty of putts on Sunday to be extremely important on the 18th hole.
Players will have the opportunity to make plenty of birdies this week, as Sedgefield has been one of the easiest courses on Tour over the past 3 years. At only 7117 yards in length, and playing as a Par 70, players have the ability to go very low at this North Carolina golf course. Greens in Regulation are extremely high due to shorter rough and moderately difficult fairways. The greens are particularly receptive and allow players to even spin the ball out of the rough. Look for a winning score this week to be around 21 under.
Many of the Tour’s big dogs are sitting this week out as they have already secured their spot in the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs. Some of the Top players competing this week include Webb Simpson, David Toms, Brandt Snedeker, Zach Johnson, Martin Kaymer and Bill Haas. With not as much top-end talent this week, we have an excellent opportunity to get some great value out of players who are not as well known to the average fan.
Here are the 5 players I see having both excellent value and a great shot at winning this week. Enjoy the picks.

PATRICK REED 70 TO 1 – Our final selection is a rookie on Tour and will look to add his name to the list that has used The Wyndham Championship as their first victory (Simpson – 2011, Atwal – 2010, Moore – 2009). Patrick Reed is an outstanding talent from Texas. He is playing his best golf of the season entering this tournament, having finished inside the Top 10 in each of his past two starts ( John Deere Classic – T7 and RBC Canadian Open – T9). Reed actually has four Top 10’s already in his rookie season, a stat to be extremely proud of. Those Top 10’s, coupled with some other solid finishes, have him currently sitting 78th on the Fed Ex Cup Point Standings. Reed will look to improve upon his current Fed Ex Cup Point standings and he will need his putter to stay hot to do so. Over the past two tournaments he has competed in, Patrick has Strokes Gained through Putting numbers of +2.233 and +1.877. If he keeps that up at Sedgfield he will once again be in contention for his first Trophy on the PGA Tour. We have taken Reed previously and I have stated how great of an influence his wife is on him. His wife is his caddie and Reed said in an interview what a great benefit it has been to be able to enjoy this experience alongside her. Hopefully Patrick and his wife Justine are celebrating together at weeks end.
